Yup! Such a wasted opportunity demolishing the Handyside Arcade that housed the Club a’Gogo, it could have been like Liverpool’s cavern club after all it was known as ‘the home of The Animals’. The great and good seem blind to our musical heritage , it would have been a great tourist attraction. If you’d like a copy of our book please get in touch 😊
I love your writing and your thoughts and all the research. Looking forward to more Substack posts.
Thank you so much.
Did you ever go to the Lexington in Cardiff, Dave?
I didn't, no. I think my first Cardiff night out was at 'Time Flies'.
Myself and my hubby lobbied Newcastle Council for this heritage plaque which we unveiled in Sept last year . Jools and Paul Donnelly
Great work. It was so good to see the plaque when I visited. I have to say, it was a challenge to my imagination to picture that site fifty years ago!

Weird to think of Eric Burdon being four years old than Bryan Ferry. They seem to inhabit different musical worlds.
